Who Is Utility Reporting For?

Understand how tradelines stack up — or learn how young adults can start building credit today.

Who Is Utility Reporting For?

If you only purchase Current Utility Reporting, we report up to 4 tradelines — one for each utility type at your current address and with your current providers.

Past + Current = Up to 8

When you add Past Utility Reporting, each address and each provider you’ve had in the last 24 months becomes an additional tradeline opportunity. Multiple addresses and multiple providers stack up fast.

For example: if you lived at 2 addresses and had 2 different cellphone carriers, that’s potentially 8 separate tradelines being added to your credit report.

More tradelines = a stronger credit profile.
Each tradeline is an independent verified account on your credit report — showing consistent, on-time payment history across multiple accounts without taking on any debt.

Example: Past + Current Scenario

Member lived at 2 addresses over 24 months, had 2 cellphone carriers:

Power (2 addresses)

2 tradelines

Water (2 addresses)

2 tradelines

Gas (2 addresses)

Cell (2 carriers)

2 tradelines

Total Tradelines Added

8 tradelines

What You'll Need to Qualify

Utility Reporting is straightforward to set up. Here’s what’s required to get started.

1

Account Must Be in Your Name

The utility account — power, water, gas, or cellphone — must have your name on the bill. We can only report for the account holder.

2

Payment Method Must Match

The utility account — power, water, gas, or cellphone — must be in your name, and the name on the utility account must match the name on the bank account or credit card used to pay it. We can only report for the person who is both the utility account holder and the payment method owner.

3

Upload Your Most Recent Bill

We’ll ask you to upload a recent utility bill to verify the account, address, and provider are correct.

4

Connect Your Payment Method via Plaid

Inside your Customer Portal, simply connect the bank account or card you use to pay your utility bills. The connection is secure, private, and encrypted — and your login information is never seen or stored by us.

5

Must Be 18 or Older

Anyone 18 or older can use Utility Reporting to start building credit with the bills they already pay.

What If the Utility Is in a Spouse or Roommate's Name?

No problem — we just need to report under their name instead. They can easily enroll using the same process, and we’ll guide them through every step.

Your Everyday Bills Deserve Credit

The payments you make every month already show responsibility — now they can finally help build your credit. Our secure system verifies your utility payments and reports them accurately, so the bills you’ve always paid on time can start working for you.

More Tradelines, Stronger Profile

Most credit products add one tradeline. Utility Reporting can add up to eight — giving you more verified payment history and a more diverse credit profile.

No Debt, No Risk

You’re not borrowing money or opening new accounts. You’re simply getting credit for bills you already pay — making this one of the safest credit-building options available.

Add History Instantly

Past reporting lets you add up to 24 months of verified payment history in one shot — giving your credit profile immediate depth without waiting years.

No Credit Check Required

There’s no hard inquiry to enroll. Your credit score isn’t affected just by signing up, making this accessible to anyone regardless of their current credit situation.

Open & Closed Tradelines

Current reporting creates open, active tradelines. Past reporting creates closed tradelines with history. Together, they give you the strongest possible credit structure.

Powered by TransUnion

Your utility payments are reported directly to TransUnion — one of the three major credit bureaus — ensuring your positive history is seen where lenders look.
