What we report for renters
- Rent is reported to all three credit bureaus: Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion.
- We accept renters who pay rent in cash. Experian does not accept cash rent payments, so cash rent is reported to Equifax and TransUnion. For cash rent, the landlord must verify their identity and confirm the payments.
- Power, gas, water, and cell phone payments are reported to TransUnion, free with rent reporting.
- We report only on-time payments, so a late payment is never reported.
- Enrolling does not require a credit check and does not create a credit inquiry.
Pricing for renters
| Service | Price |
|---|---|
| Rent reporting | $6.95 a month or $49 a year. No setup fee. Cancel anytime. |
| Utility and cell phone reporting | Free with rent reporting ($6.95 a month on its own) |
| Past reporting (optional) | $59 one time. Adds up to 24 months of verified rent and utility history, and includes a second past address at no extra cost. |
| Expedited reporting (optional) | $49.99. Accounts that are fully completed and verified by Thursday are submitted that Friday. |
| Credit monitoring | Free monthly VantageScore 3.0, monthly Equifax credit report, and score tracking. Optional upgrades: Standard $5.99, Premium $9.99, or Ultimate $24.99 a month. |
Price Match Guarantee: we match any competitor’s publicly advertised price for standalone rent or utility reporting.
What renters need to enroll
- A residential address with a signed lease or sublease in your name.
- A valid photo ID.
- At least three verified rent payments from your connected bank account.
- Your landlord does not need to sign up or take part, except to verify cash rent.
- Roommates can each report rent when their name is on the signed lease or sublease and they have three verified rent payments from their own bank account.
Not eligible: commercial addresses, and homes where your name is on the title.
When rent shows up
- We report to the credit bureaus on the 5th and 15th of each month.
- With expedited reporting, accounts completed and verified by Thursday are submitted that Friday.
- TransUnion and Equifax typically make the account live within 1 to 3 business days of submission.
- Experian runs on its own schedule. Accounts completed by the 15th are included in the next month’s Experian file, which is submitted on the 5th and usually goes live during the last week of that month.
What results to expect
Rent reporting can raise a credit score, but no company can guarantee a specific number of points. Renters commonly see increases of 20 to 60 points, and sometimes more, especially people with thin or limited credit files.
Cancellation and refunds
- You can cancel anytime.
- Fairness Guarantee: refunds are available within 30 days of enrollment under clear conditions. Requests must be submitted through the Message Center in your customer portal.
- If your bank is not supported by Plaid, you receive a full refund.
- If enrollment can’t be completed because of a customer error, or you change your mind before setup is complete, you receive a refund minus a $9 processing fee.
- If you cancel a $6.95 monthly subscription with no other purchases, no refund is issued and no processing fee is charged.
- Fees are non-refundable once reporting has started or account setup is complete.
Disputes and removal
An accurate rent tradeline cannot be removed simply by request; the credit bureaus do not allow it. A tradeline can be corrected or removed if the information is inaccurate or cannot be verified.
Programs for landlords and property managers
Landlord programs report to TransUnion and Equifax. Apartment complexes and property management companies can also report to Experian after additional vetting.
